The closing to a bad experience

The closing to a bad experience

Apologies for not updating earlier. It has been nearly a year since our last post.

We now can close our horrendous experience. Click on this link to the website article by Stuff:

eHaus ordered to pay couple 24000 over quote to build passive house

We had to take eHaus to the Disputes Tribunal where we could only make a maximum claim of $30K to at least get some money back. Overall, we still made a loss of nearly $20k, not considering the time wasted and stress.

It was, is, and will be important to voice out bad performances especially if the other party does not rectify the issues in an appropriate way.

It might be wishful, but our general belief is that businesses should adopt a mindset of taking responsibility and not charge customers for their own mistakes. Businesses should not blame others. It might be costly in the short-term, but it is an opportunity for further development. Set things right and ensure the customer knows they are valued and have a positive experience which will multiply into healthy success in the long-term.

A national database where you can rate builders would be beneficial. What about Google Reviews? Every restaurant has to accept negative comments so the building industry should be capable of the same.

We are moving forward from this and still determined to build a passive house.

Set back news

Set back news

We usually post positive & exciting news about our Wunderbar Passive House project.

We started our journey with eHaus since October 2018, and received our first quote to build our passive house in January 2019. Back then, we were so excited and could imagine it all happening.

In April 2020, eHaus provided pricing to build our passive house that was far beyond the figures they quoted (by 70% plus!!!). I literally fell off the chair!

In the last couple of months, while trying to find a way forward with eHaus, we felt we were doing all the compromising. The process eroded further the trust we placed in eHaus’ competency and professionalism. We had enough and have canceled our project with eHaus. We have asked eHaus to at least pay us back what we have paid to them and on reliance on their designs, as those are now completely useless to us. We feel that this is the only right thing for eHaus to do now. We shall see if eHaus will do so.

This experience has been disappointing and unfortunately adds to the bad news we hear about the New Zealand building industry. We are still figuring out what to do next, but hey at least we can put up a tent at our section this summer.

We will share more soon. We hope others don’t fall into the same traps.
Title for land received!

Title for land received!

Today we are officially a very proud landowner of our lot in the brand new Pacific Heights Development in Orewa.

Title received !

It took more than 7 months for the Auckland Council. We stayed positive & good things take time.

We now finalize the house design & pricing for our passive house. Stay tuned!

Passive House Institute Webinar

Passive House Institute Webinar

Prof. Dr. Feist said: Can we still solve the climate crisis?

DEFINITELY: If we soon decide to act meaningfully. AND: We then act in accordance with this decision.

Last week we participated in an international webinar with the founder of Passive House Institute Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Feist. Very informative about the impressive passive house projects around the world. New Zealand has to speed up in building healthy homes.
